The application of steel pipes in the natural gas industry is mainly reflected in the following aspects:
Carbon steel pipe:Carbon steel pipe is widely used in medium and high pressure natural gas transportation systems due to its low cost and good mechanical strength.It is easy to manufacture and install,and has a certain degree of corrosion resistance,but requires regular cleaning and maintenance.
Stainless steel pipes:Stainless steel pipes have strong corrosion resistance and are suitable for natural gas transmission systems under high pressure and special working conditions.Its antioxidant and high temperature resistance properties enable it to operate stably in various harsh environments,but the cost is relatively high.
Welded steel pipe:mainly used for urban gas medium and low pressure buried and overhead systems,with various connection methods including wire connection,welding,and flange connection.Spiral seam pipes are usually used for large diameters,while straight seam pipes are used for small diameters.
Seamless steel pipe:widely used in high,medium,and low pressure transmission and distribution systems due to its lack of welds,high steel grade,and reliable connections.In some special environments,such as bridge laying,basements,etc.,seamless steel pipes are the only choice.
In addition,the durability and economy of steel pipes are also the reasons why they are widely used in the natural gas industry.Despite the high cost of advanced materials such as stainless steel,they have a long service life,low maintenance costs,and overall good economic viability.Although carbon steel pipes have lower costs,they require more maintenance in special environments.
